Frequently asked questions

This page contains some common questions and their answers. If you need more information, or if your question isn't answered here, please check the Customer Services questions, or contact us.

  • Why has your licensing system changed?
  • Licence details for the latest versions of our Crocodile simulation are now registered and stored online. This makes managing your school's licences easier, and removes the need to enter details from all of your old versions when upgrading or extending your licence.

Each piece of software we sell has a 16-digit serial number, which needs to be registered at http://www.crocodilia.com/. It will be added to your account (if you already have one), and you'll receive a new licence code which you can then use to install or update the software on your computer.

  • How do I install your Crocodile software on an MSI or RM CC3 network?
  • Please visit out Installation page to find help for MSI or RM CC3 networks.

  • Do your Mac versions offer a universal binary?
  • We're working on Universal Binaries for our Crocodile and Yenka software; there's already one for Crocodile ICT.

  • I have installed and deployed the software on my network using the MSI provided. However, it is not licensed on the client machines. What has gone wrong?
  • You need to licence the software before you deploy it to your clients. To do this, please navigate to the product's root folder on your server, and launch the application. Click on the 'Edit Licence' button in the About box and enter your licence details. When you then deploy the software, the software installed on the client machines will already be licensed.

  • Why can't I get simulations from previous versions of your software to work in the latest version?
  • The many improvements that we have made to our Crocodile simulators recently have meant that some files created in older versions cannot be opened in more recent versions.

Electronics models from earlier versions of the software can be opened in Yenka, but other types of model can not. We understand that this might cause some inconvenience, but please note that the new version of the software can be installed alongside older versions so that you can still access older resources by using the older software.

  • Where can I get a copy of Crocodile Clips Elementary?
  • Crocodile Clips Elementary was our free basic electronics simulator, but it is no longer available. It has now been replaced by Yenka Basic Circuits, which is also free. For details, please see Yenka Basic Circuits.

  • I want to use a component that isn't currently available. Is there some way I can add my own?
  • Unfortunately not - but please contact us with any suggestions, so that we can consider them for future versions.

  • Can I add my own components to the real-PCB library?
  • You'll need to purchase another piece of software - Easy PC from Number One Systems - which is an industrial sister package to real-PCB. It lets you create your own components and then use them in real-PCB.

  • What CAD and CAM formats can real-PCB export to?
  • The formats available are Gerber, NC Drill and HP-GL Pen Plot. You can output into any of these formats by going to Tools > CAD/CAM Outputs.

  • We are having problems running our Absorb software on service pack 2 for XP. Can you help?
  • Window XP Service Pack 2 significantly changes the way web based content is managed. By default it blocks all 'active content' - including the JavaScript that is essential for the Absorb products to function. We've got two workarounds you can use.

  • I can't get some of the interactive models in my Absorb Courseware to work.
  • If you click on a model and receive a message saying Windows doesn't know what application to use to open it, the problem is likely with the simulation files.  Here's how to fix it.
